Xina Xurner is a genre-defying sexperimental music and performance art duo known for unleashing raw energy, sweat-drenched dance music, harsh noise, and radical queer glamour into body-shaking transformative performances. Their live shows fuse power electronics, dark club-wrecking beats, electric guitar, and extreme vocal distortion into a full-body sonic onslaught — hailed as a “fabulous and urgent corrective” that shatters the complacency, exclusionary politics, and gendered erasure that continue to haunt countercultural music scenes. Led by vocalist Young Joon Kwak, whose feral, convulsive physicality whips audiences into an ecstatic frenzy, Xina Xurner transforms the dance floor into a celebration of queer and trans femme rage, love, sex, resistance, and wildness.
Xina Xurner has been blowing holes in dance floors since 2011 in Chicago, before moving to LA the following year. They released their debut album "DIE" in 2012 and their follow-up, “Queens of the Night,” in April 2018. They have performed everywhere from underground spaces to festivals and major art institutions, including Bitchpork (Chicago); The Smell, Hammer Museum (Los Angeles); National University of Colombia (Bogotá); Pavillon Vendôme Centre d’Art Contemporain (Clichy, France); Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art (New York); Serendipity Arts Festival (Goa, India); and venues in Tokyo, Seoul, and Mexico City.
Xina Xurner will make you sweat.
